Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 is the perfect application for web design pros, but is less suited for amateur web designers, as they might not need all of the features Dreamweaver 8 offers. You’ll find much improvement over previous versions of Dreamweaver, the small upgrade fee is well worth the money.
Managing multiple websites is a breeze, and improved interface features like collapsible code, page zoom, and a ruler make the program super versatile. With support for most of the popular web technology out there, Dreamweaver 8 is hard to beat.
If you own previous versions, a well-priced $199.99 upgrade is well worth the money spent. You will definitely see an improvement when you use 8.
If everything is a little too difficult to handle at first, the Dreamweaver Wizard will take you through website design. It’s nice because the step by step instructions are very easy to follow.
A new feature in Dreamweaver 8 lets you zoom in on a page, up to 6,000+ percent. This is helpful when you need a much closer look at something, or want to make sure your design elements are matched up perfectly.
The Dreamweaver 8 design also features rulers which will help you manage elements and place them in the perfect position, without error.
The webpage rendering engine is also improved, and will show you a more realistic version of how the page will actually be displayed in web browsers. This helps with design differences between IE and Firefox, as each browser displays some elements a little differently (which can be a big pain sometimes!).
Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 also boasts support for lots of web technology out there, including Coldfusion, PHP, XML, CSS, Flash 8, WebDAV, and more. Ajax support is unfortunately not included in this list.
Overall, Dreamweaver 8 is the perfect application if you take web designing very seriously. It’s definitely worth taking a closer look, if you consider yourself in this category of web designers.
